Korea - Seoul Day 2

Korea Day 2

Start the day with Raman and coffee that was provided by the guest house.

Opp our guest house there is this palace. In Seoul there is a few palace and this is one of them. If you have the time, do go in and have a look.

There is this van outside the palace selling very nice red bean pancake!

Having this on a cold day is really wonderful. The degree is about 7-8 degree in the day.
It's not something expensive but you will feel good after drinking the soup. Warm up your body and continue your journey!

This is the yummy red bean pancake I'm talking about! It's crispy on the outside soft on the inside and with lots of red bean.

Here we met another nice lady boss! Do support her if you see her.

Gonna change to another hotel so we ask the guest house in charge to help us translate the English address to Korean and it helps! It's easier for the cab driver to understand.

Having my 2nd round of breakfast. This is a Japanese-Korean style restaurant just a few steps away from Hotel Irene ( my hotel for the rest of the days ).

We are done and ready for our day 2.

Need some coffee intake? Try this coffee mama. Nice place to chill with your friends. We are heading off for our next destination so we choose 'take out' but I still take a few picture of the inside for you all to see.

Randomness strike! Pass by a restaurant and jaslin wants to take a picture with her. Haha.

Ok. Our next destination will be Namsan Park where the Seoul Tower is.

Taking the glass cabin escalator up to the cable car station.

It's not sunset yet, the color is sepia due to the glass of the cabin. Up we go!

Yup! We are going to take that up to Namsan park.

Cable car ticket are selling at:
Adult Single trip - 6000 won
         Round trip - 8000 won
Kids single trip - 3500 won
        Round trip - 5000 won

A huge cable car that can fit a lot of people so need not queue for too long for one. Many kdrama scenes was taken inside the cable car too.

That's our destination, Seoul tower!

View from the top. Peaceful isn't it?
P/s: there is people who do climb up to the top instead of taking cable car! Try it if you like challenging activities.

Graffiti. Write your love message with your partner and leave some memory there. Went with a group of friends so no love message for us! Haha!

For couples, you can purchase or bring your own lock over to Seoul tower and lock your love there! (kdrama attack again! )

You can purchase thicket for both bear museum, Seoul tower observatory or just buy one that you are more interested in if you do not have a lot of time spend there.

Tickets are selling at:
Bear museum - adult 8000 won, kids 5000 - 6000 won
Observatory deck - adult 9000 won, kids 5000- 7000won
Both - adult 14000 won, kids 7000 - 10000 won
Visit http://blog.naver.com/n_seoultower for more details.

These bear are all moving, not just some still bear that was pasted there.
My favorite bear is the one who is drawing on the wall!

Oppa gangnam style! Kids will love this place and of cause the adults too.

The bear museum are separated to 2 area. The above are area 1, which focus on the traditional culture and below will be the 2nd area which is more modern.

The Nanta bear remind me of yesterday night show!

Can't get enough of the bears? Grab one at the souvenir store. Price are reasonable too.

If you don't wanna go any of the above, you can just chill at the cafe there of sit around the area to watch some traditional dance.

Nest destination will be the famous Gyeongbokgung, one of the biggest palace. Many kdrama shoot their palace scenes here too!
If you are taking train, alight at Gyeongbokgung station, exit 5, and 3-5 mins walk.

Please note about the operation time (cos we miss the timing and never had the chance to go in) :
March to October - 9am to 6pm
November to February - 9am to 5pm
May to August, weekend and public holiday - 9am to 7pm
Close on every Tuesday. Last entry will be one hour before operation ends.

Admission tickets :
Above 18 years old - 3000 won
7-18 years old - 1500 won
Below 7 - Free

P/s: If you are interested in their culture, you can purchase their combination ticket which cost 10000 won for adult and 5000won for youth, and you can access to Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Deoksugung and Jongmyo Shrine within a month.

We missed the entry time so therefore I didn't manage to take any picture of the inside. I will be back again to visit this place and with the correct timing!

After visting and taking picture outside the palace, we walk to Samcheongdong.

At samchingdong there is many unique shops, many local design stuff too. A nice street to shop and you can just drop by any cafe to chill.

One of the cafe. East meet west?

I strongly recommend Beansbins Coffee! They serve really super yummy waffle! There is a lot of outlet around Seoul.
P/s: Myeong dong and Dongdeamun have Beansbins too!

Nice place to chill with the chilly weather.

This is seriously GOOOOOOOOD! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, not too sweet and most importantly the strawberry are huge and fresh.

Continue explore the place. Passby a primary school and took picture with their "student".

This looks familiar, do we have it in Singapore?

Local snacks time! Korea style of spring roll.

I love this hand drawn sign board!

Looks like some floral shop that appear in kdrama.

Lots of nice cafe around.

we end up walking to Insadong. Most of shop has close so we didn't really shop much.

We decided to eat our dinner at one of the Korea restaurant in Insadong.

Dinner time!

After dinner we went Dongdeamun for shopping again! This time we shop till around 1am+ due to too much walking today. Flap a cab and realize that don't charge by meter anymore! We keep trying to flap a cabs that charge by meter, but we realize all cab charge the same so we decided to just pay the amount. Too tired to wait.

P/s: the next day we asked our hotel reception regarding the cab fare at night and he told us its normal when it comes to night. The not only charge tourist like that but also local. They do not have midnight charge, therefore that's their "midnight charge".
By the way, I heard that a lot of people said that do not take black cab in Korea. Just like our black cab, it's expensive.

End of day two.
